Our Feta

Made from local fresh milk, Greek Mountain® Feta Cheese is so versatile you won’t know what you did without it! Crumbled, sliced or cubed, Greek Mountain® Feta can be eaten plain or added to your favorite dish. 

Ingredients: Pasteurized sheep’s milk, sea salt, calcium chloride, microbial enzyme, bacterial cultures, brine (water and sea salt).

Facts about Feta Cheese

  1. Feta cheese is a legal designation, meaning it has to be produced in Greece to be called “Feta”. Many other countries make similar cheeses, but they cannot call them “feta.”
  2. The word “feta” is Italian and was adopted by Greeks in the 17th century. It actually means “slice.”
  3. Feta cheese can be made from goat or sheep’s milk. Feta connoisseurs will tell you that the best comes from sheep’s milk.
  4. Feta is probably one of the world’s oldest cheeses. There are references to it in Homer’s epic “Odyssey”!
  5. Feta cheese is 25% fat of which about two-thirds is saturated.
  6. Feta is high in calcium and vitamin B12
  7. A 35 gr small piece of Feta cheese has about 100 calories
  8. Feta is cured in brine for a period of at least three months.
